My Favorite Stuff

I am hoping to make this a usual thursday entry-Some of the geek gadgets that I see, want or have. I am endorsing nothing-just passing along information

Here is one of my fav items- an affordable teaching tool- it's too bad that this don't come as a part of the classroom "equipment" like a stapler or the whiteboard eraser! It provides the opportunity to make presentations without being tied to the computer.

This is my keyspan presentation remote. You've seen Mr Goggins use this with his powerpoint presentations(I can I say no to the Principal!). It hass two pieces- one a USB plug and the other, the remote, complete with scroll pad and a laser pointer. I bought mine from CDW for $60. It has been a good investment.

Once the usb plug is in the tower, you can move about the room, changing powerpoint slides and using the laser pointer for emphasis.
The range is very good- I have changed powerpoint slides that are on a laptop at front of the auditorium while standing in the back!

We have two in the media for check out.

Back for another year

The summer provided a terrific opportunity for learning. I was able to spend three weeks learning the ins and outs of much of the software that we use here @ PSHS.
Specifically, Publisher is my new favorite program for the creation of a variety of publications(duh!) and school information opportuntities. As always, Microsoft provides good tutorial information on their program. (http://www.microsoft.com/education/publisher2000tutorial.mspx) I encourage you to visit the site and take a chance on using publisher.

Watch for Wednesday workshops and (maybe) Professional Development opportunities on how to use this program in and with your class!

Again, Welcome back-enjoy 2007-08
